READING’S torrid away form continued as they were dispatched 4-0 by Charlton on Saturday afternoon.

Second-half goals from Chuks Aneke, Tyrese Campbell, Alfie May and Miles Leaburn condemned the Royals to their seventh defeat in as many games on the road this season.

Here’s how the players fared:

David Button 5: Given next to no help and couldn’t have done much more with any of the goals.

Tyler Bindon 4: Couldn’t stop Blackett-Taylor’s cross which set up the opener and got beaten too many times. Failed to beat the first man more often than not when delivering the ball into the box.

Nelson Abbey 7: Solid as always. Used his body well to protect the ball and made some crucial last-ditch tackles to stop Charlton counters.

Harlee Dean 4: Unremarkable. Charged out on a number of occasions and was fortunate not to get punished.

Nesta Guinness-Walker 5: The far more offensive of the two full backs and delivered some quality crosses. Got caught out by the ball in behind several times.

Michael Craig 5: One of the better performances on the day. Did a lot of the simple things well and tried to be positive. Needs more minutes at this level though.

Lewis Wing 6: A mixed bag. Gave the ball away in some dangerous areas but also had Reading’s best shots at goal, both from the edge of the box.

Harvey Knibbs 4: Covered a lot of ground but wasn’t incisive enough in possession. Had a very quiet second half.

Femi Azeez 4: Barring a couple of positive breaks forward in the opening minutes offered precious little to Reading’s moves forward.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan 5.5: Some nice moments but tried to do things all by himself. Better decision-making could have seen Azeez played in for a one-on-one in the first half.

Sam Smith 5: Great to see the forward back after three months out injured. Wasn’t the most convincing showing, but will take time to get up to speed.

Substitutes:

Dom Ballard 5: The endeavour was there but needs more time to develop an understanding with his teammates movements.

Ben Elliott 5: Wasn’t given enough time to impose himself on the game.

Caylan Vickers 5: Very quiet.

Charlie Savage: N/A

Clinton Mola: N/A
