A DANCE battle featuring contenders from around the UK is taking place at one of Reading’s churches.

St Laurence Church in the centre of town is set to be the stage for On The Block, a hip-hop dance battle for the chance to win a cash prize.

The event, the third in a series, sees a community of budding hopefuls and professional dancers alike come together to celebrate the art form.

Guest judges will lead in three categories of dance: hip-hop, popping, and krump, and select finalists through 1-to-1 battles.

In the final contenders will compete for a cash prize of £100 per category winner.

The event is organised by Dance Reading, a charity which champions access to dance for everyone, and produced by members of its youth programme, funded by Reading Borough Council.
