A BROTHER and sister from Charvil were first in the queue for a book signing event in Reading, forsaking their Saturday morning lie-in in the process.

Matthew and Emily were at the Broad Street branch of Waterstones from 8.30am – before the store opened – so author Derek Landy could sign them along with the new graphic novel, Bad Magic. His session started at 11am, so the duo had several hours to wait, but at least they had plenty to read.

Officially released on Thursday, October 12, the fan-favourite fantasy detective from the Skulduggery Pleasant series is brought to life in full colour, thanks to some help from P.J. Holden, Matt Soffe, Rob Jones and Pye Parr.

Set in a small town in Ireland, Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain attempt to solve a series of unexplained deaths and tackle a monster on the loose.

Mr Landy, who has also worked for Marvel Comics’ ranges including Captain America, Iron Man, and The Avengers, has been on a UK tour including a visit to the Henley Literary Festival.

The team at Waterstones were delighted with how the event went.
