Harvey Knibbs has sent a farewell message to Reading FC supporters after he completed his transfer to Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The Royals received a reported fee in the region of £1.8million for the midfielder who they signed on a free transfer from Cambridge United two years ago.

Having played 100 games in Reading colours, Knibbs said goodbye to the fans.

He said: “Although it wasn’t the project I originally signed up for, this club and fanbase gave me more than I could have ever imagined.

“From day one, you made me feel like one of your own, and I hope I showed the same love and passion every time I wore the shirt.

“Through all the challenges – on and off the pitch – we built a bond as players, staff and supporters that led to some of the most enjoyable moments of my career.
