A PRIVATE GP practice with in Henley has expanded into Reading, opening a new clinic inside Derma – one of the region’s leading specialist dermatology centres.

From its new location on Shepherds Hill, The Maxwell Practice now offers same-day and next-day private GP appointments to residents across Reading, Woodley, Earley, Sonning and the surrounding areas.

The expansion comes at a time of increasing pressure on NHS GP services and growing demand from patients seeking timely access to healthcare.

The two independent clinics share a commitment to clinical excellence, outstanding patient care and a personalised approach to medicine.

Founded by Consultant Dermatologist Dr Rima Clayton, Derma has provided specialist care for skin, hair and nail conditions since 202.

The clinic is recognised for its patient-focused approach and high standards of care and has become one of the leading private dermatology centres in the Thames Valley.

Like its clinic in Henley, The Maxwell Practice’s new Reading clinic will offer private GP care for men, women and children, with services including GP consultations, health screens, blood tests, vaccinations and weight loss treatments.

Patients can choose to pay-as-they-go or opt for a convenient membership scheme which gives unrestricted access to consultations.

Dr Mike Thomas, GP and Founding Partner of The Maxwell Practice, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Rima and the outstanding team at Derma.

“From our very first conversations, it was clear that both organisations share the same values – putting patients first, delivering excellent clinical care and providing a genuinely personal service.

“Reading is a vibrant and growing community, and we are excited to bring The Maxwell Practice’s approach to private general practice to patients across the area.

“One of the things I enjoy most about being a GP is having the time to really listen to patients. Our appointments are typically 30 minutes long, which allows us to have meaningful conversations and address all the concerns a patient may have; patients often tell us how much they value having the time and space to discuss their health properly.”

Dr Rima Clayton, Consultant Dermatologist and Founding Partner of Derma, said: “We are thrilled to welcome The Maxwell Practice to Derma.

“We are frequently asked by patients to recommend high-quality GP services, and The Maxwell Practice has built a fantastic reputation for exactly the kind of personalised, patient-centred care that we value so highly.

“This arrangement gives patients convenient access to trusted GP services provided independently by The Maxwell Practice.

“We know Dr Mike Thomas and his team well, and we have great confidence in the care they provide. We are delighted to be working together to support the health of people across Reading and the wider Berkshire area.”
