A fan favourite is currently training with Reading FC ahead of a potential return to the club just three years after departing.

Midfielder Andy Rinomhota, who made 139 appearances for the club between 2018-2022, has been training at Bearwood Park with rumours now circulating that he could rejoin the club.

Rinomhota made a big impact on the first-team during his time at Reading and was renowned for his consistency. He won the player of the season award in the 2018/19 campaign.

He left Reading on a free transfer in 2022 after the expiration of his contract and joined Cardiff City on a three-year deal.

He made a total of 82 appearances for the Bluebirds and won the Players’ Player of the season award in a tricky season for the club as they were relegated into League One.

He also spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Rotherham United in the Championship and played 16 times under new Royals manager Leam Richardson.

Fans have reacted on social media to the potential return of Rinomhota, who would be able to join the club at any point in the season as a free agent.

One user on X said: “Rinomhota would walk into our team at right back or midfield. Get it done!”

Another added: “Andy Rinomhota would be the perfect signing. Worked with Richardson before han, and strong ties with the club. Get it done Rob.”

Another said: “Hopefully Rinomhota’s injuries are behind him. Keep him fit, he’s easily better than majority of players in this league.”

Another user added: “I know people have bad opinions on former players joining the club but Rinomhota at this level would be fantastic.”
