FORMER Reading star Ovie Ejaria is reportedly on trial with Championship side Plymouth Argyle after being released by the Royals last month.
Ejaria’s time with Reading ended with his contract being terminated and according to reports, the midfielder is currently training with Argyle with a view to sign him on a free transfer if the trial is successful.
The 26-year-old, who was purchased from Liverpool in 2020 for around £3million, didn’t feature for the Royals for more than a year as a promising start to life in Berkshire ended with disappointment.
He was omitted from the squad over the last 12 months due to a mix of injuries and disciplinary issues, originally under manager Paul Ince and then also under Ruben Selles this season.
He originally joined the Royals back in 2019 on a loan spell from Liverpool as a part of five loan signings who helped the club escape relegation under manager Jose Gomes.
He joined for another loan spell for the 2019/20 season, which Reading then opted to make a permanent deal after several impressive performances.
He made a total of 124 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring nine times.
Plymouth are looking to fill the void of creativity in their team after loanee Finn Azaz was recalled by Aston Villa and subsequently sold to Middlesbrough for £2million, and are hoping Ejaria may be the man to play that role.
