FORMER READING FC star Michael Olise has signed a new deal with Crystal Palace amid transfer interest from Chelsea.

It had been reported that Olise was set to join Chelsea as they continue their huge summer transfer spending spree, however he has now extended his deal with Palace.

The mercurial midfielder departed Reading in 2021 when his £8million release clause was triggered by Crystal Palace which stands as the club’s record sale for a player.

The 21-year-old Frenchman burst onto the scene at Reading who brought him to the club in 2016 after he had spells with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City’s academies.

Olise made his first-team debut for Reading in the 2018/19 campaign and went on to make a total of 73 appearances for the Royals and scored seven times.

He made a significant impact in the 2020/21 season as Veljko Paunovic’s side pushed for promotion, only to miss out on the play-offs after a disappointing end to the campaign.

Olise stamped his creative influence on the team and scored seven goals and claimed 12 assists in 44 games.

Having made the move to Palace, he showcased his talent with two goals and five assist in his debut season in the Premier League.

In the 2022/23 season, Olise scored two goals and picked up 11 assists in 37 appearances for Palace.

He has also won seven caps for France U21s and has scored one goal.
