FIVE more people have been arrested in the continued investigation into incidents of disorder in Reading in December last year.
It follows an incident of disorder which occurred on Friar Street and Station approach in central Reading on the evening of Tuesday, December 12, related to a football fixture between Reading FC and Oxford at the Select Car Leasing Stadium that day.
Ten people were arrested that night, and a further 13 have been arrested since.
Now Thames Valley Police has announced that another five arrests have been made.
A 19-year-old man from Tilehurst; a 22-year-old man from Calcot; a 22-year-old man from Upper Arncott, Bicester; a 24-year-old man from Bermondsey, South East London; and a 48-year-old man from Upper Arncott, Bicester, have all been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
All five have been released on bail.
Superintendent Adrian Hall, Tactical Commander for the return fixture in Oxford tomorrow, said: “There will be an increased police presence in place for the Oxford versus Reading fixture tomorrow to ensure that fans coming to enjoy the game, residents and the wider public feel safe when visiting Oxford.
