West Berkshire Green Party has announced its local prospective parliamentary candidates for the anticipated 2024 general election.
Carolyne Culver will be standing in Reading West and Mid Berkshire constituency. She is a long-standing campaigner for environmental responsibility, social justice, and economic fairness.
Ms Culver represents Ridgeway Ward, chairs the West Berkshire Council Scrutiny Commission, and has a background in public relations, journalism and teaching.
She said: “It’s time for a fresh start after nearly 14 years of Conservative government.
“It isn’t clear what Labour stands for anymore.
“The Greens’ vision and values are clear. We are focused on securing a sustainable and just future for all: protecting public services including the NHS, ending poverty, and tackling the climate emergency.
Ms Culver was re-elected to West Berkshire Council in May 2023 with an increased majority, and then became chairman of the Scrutiny Commission, responsible for reviewing the decisions, policies and services of West Berkshire Council.
