Students at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre in Reading are celebrating some of the school’s best results after receiving their A Level and Level 3 vocational qualifications.
The school said 30% of all A Level grades were awarded at A* or A, while 52% of vocational qualifications achieved Distinction or Distinction* grades.
It said the results had opened up a range of options for students, including university, apprenticeships and employment.
Among the highest achievers was Thomas Busby, who achieved four A* grades in biology, chemistry, maths and his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). He will go to the University of Exeter to study medicine.
Nancy Lowther achieved AAA* in art, English Language and Literature and history, alongside an A* in her EPQ. She will study English Literature with Creative Writing at Cardiff University.
Chloe Wenman-Bateson achieved three A* grades in English Literature, Government and Politics and history, alongside an A in her EPQ. She is heading to the University of Manchester to study Law with Politics.
Ella Martin achieved three A* grades in biology, English Language and Literature and psychology, as well as an A in Core Maths. She will study English Literature at the University of Warwick.
Callum Davidson achieved AAAA in economics, history, maths and further maths and will study Maths, Economics and Statistics at the University of Birmingham.
Headteacher Laura Mathews said 53% of students achieved either A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction grades.
She praised students for their “resilience, diligence and determination” during their exams.
“Some of our most notable performances came from our Extended Project Qualification students, of whom 92% achieved A*/A grades for their work,” she said.
“Also in Maths, where 46% achieved an A*/A and in English Language and Literature, where 40% of grades were awarded A* or A.”
Ms Mathews said staff were pleased to see students securing places at their chosen universities, apprenticeships and careers.
She added: “Thanks also go to the staff for their immense effort to ensure our students got the grades they deserved.”
Warwick Sharp, chief executive of GLF Schools, said the results would help students move on to their chosen futures.
“We are so proud of these brilliant young people and these strong results will enable them to go on to do amazing things,” he said.
He also praised the Highdown staff, describing the results as the culmination of a “huge and very impressive effort”.
