READING FC manager Paul Ince confirmed that the club are looking at ‘one or two’ transfer targets to bring to the club before the end of January.
With the club still under a transfer embargo they will only be able to recruit loan players or free agents, but Ince is hopeful that he can add to his midfield, which he highlighted as the priority position to bolster.
“We’ve got one or two that we are looking to bring in,” said Ince.
“Sometimes the transfer window is a nightmare because people wait until the last minute and then it goes mad.
“All these things start happening in such a short time,
“We need to get a midfield player in if we can. A central midfield player, that’s my priority.”
The Royals have been linked with a move to bring midfielder Josh Laurent back to the club.
Laurent is currently at Stoke City after he moved to the Potters on a free transfer from Reading in the summer after two successful seasons in Berkshire.
It has also been suggested that out of favour midfielder Ovie Ejaria may be allowed to leave the club during the January transfer window.
Ejaria has fallen out of favour this season and also missed out on the club’s trip to Tenerife during the World Cup break due to disciplinary reasons.
He has played in just Championship games this season, but has not appeared in the matchday squad since his substitute appearance against Hull City in December.
