Reading FC midfielder Lewis Wing has called on the team to ‘keep on going’ after they suffered a heavy defeat at Bolton Wanderers on Monday.

Despite conceding five on the road, the Royals still remain six points above the League One relegation zone after other results went their way.

Wing, who has been one of Reading’s outstanding performers this season, netted another spectacular goal in the defeat which temporarily had Ruben Selles’ side level.

“It was a tough day, we felt from the first minute at kick-off,” said Wing.

“They kept the ball really well but we conceded some sloppy goals.

“I think four of the goals came from our mistakes.

“We gifted them the game with the mistakes and if we don’t do that, we give them a tough game.”

The 28-year-old is now looking ahead to Saturday and hopes that the team can get back to winning ways when they host the division’s in-form side, Lincoln City.

He continued: “We have to dust ourselves down and go again Saturday.

“It’s important to look and the pros and cons of Monday, pick the brains out of it and go for it on Saturday against Lincoln.

“We need to get our bodies ready for the games coming up, that’s the most important thing.

“We need to keep picking up points because it’s not over yet, we need to keep going.

“We need positivity running through the team and the fans, so hopefully we can put things right and get the three points on Saturday.”

Wing has also captained the side in the absence of club captain Andy Yiadom and he spoke about his gratitude to be able to lead the team.

He said: “It’s an honour to captain the side. I wish we’d kept the winning run going of when I had the armband, but it wasn’t to be. I’m hopeful I will have many more opportunities though.”
