Gabriel Berry-Khan, Green

Gabriel Berry-Khan has lived in Reading for over 10 years. He has worked in sustainability and now runs a small business. When not working he enjoys spending time climbing, walking and playing football.

Casey Byrne, Conservative

Casey was born and grew up in Tilehurst and is currently in the final year of his studies at the University of Reading. Casey knows that many people in Tilehurst are facing a difficult time and wants to be their local champion on Reading Borough Council. Casey thinks that Labour has taken Reading for granted and is fighting for a better deal for all of Reading, particularly long ignored areas like Tilehurst.

Russell has lived in Reading all his life, in the Tilehurst area for 16 years and works in the Automotive industry. He is passionate about his community and is keen to represent the people within it on Reading Borough Council. If elected, Russell pledges to support the residents of Tilehurst, with one of his key priorities being increased leisure facilities in the area.

Sikandar Hayat, Labour

James Moore, Lib Dem

James Moore has been a familiar face campaigning in Tilehurst and west Reading for the last ten years. He works in technology and IT, currently for a popular toy company; his priorities if elected will be glass kerbside recycling and safer local roads. He has already been successful in petitioning for, and gaining a 20mph limit on his own road and wants to help residents get the same in their area. James was until recently the Chair of the Reading & Mid-Berkshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which successfully runs one of the largest beer festivals in the country here in our town.

Meri O’Connell, Lib Dem

Meri O’Connell is well-known and well-loved in Tilehurst as a Borough Councillor for the last 10 years. As the Lib Dem group leader on Reading Borough Council, she has been a committed and passionate voice for Tilehurst over the last decade or more, and has built a formidable reputation as a dogged and principled local campaigner. Only recently, she has ensured that a new pedestrian crossing is installed on Church End Lane for Moorlands School. She is a local secondary school teacher, primary school governor, and mum of three (and two cats). Her previous career was in youth work and she is passionate about giving young people the right start in life. She has a strong record of achievement and delivery for her constituents, working tirelessly all year round for Tilehurst.

Benjamin Perry-Stone, Labour

Anne Thompson, Lib Dem

Anne Thompson has, like James and Meri, become a familiar face campaigning in Tilehurst and across Reading in recent years. She lived in Reading for many years working at the BBC Monitoring Centre in Caversham prior to moving abroad with her work; she returned to Reading five years ago. A translator by profession, between English and various Eastern European languages, she works with multiple community organisations and children’s charities, helping vulnerable people both in the UK and abroad to get the help and support they need. If elected, her priorities are getting a fair deal for Tilehurst residents and services, building the affordable housing we need, where we need it, and protecting our green spaces and woodlands from further development.

Sandra Vickers, Conservative

Sandra has lived in Reading her whole life and has lived in Tilehurst since 1965. Her children were brought up and educated in Tilehurst and she has previously worked in schools in the area. Both Sandra and her husband have also run their own successful businesses. Sandra is currently a Tilehurst Parish Councillor and was a Borough Councillor for Tilehurst for 8 years.
