Refugee Support Group’s mission is to improve the lives of Refugees and people seeking asylum, providing support, advice, promotion, awareness and facilitating integration for the local community.

They are currently seeking patient and compassionate volunteers to join the team and help refugees and asylum seekers improve their English skills. You’re not expected to have any formal skills but you must be a proficient or fluent English speaker.

The drop-in takes place every Wednesday from 10am to 12:30pm and volunteers are required to attend every week if possible. Some IT skills are required as you’d have to create some lesson plans.

Founded in 2012, Canal & River Trust is the UK’s largest canal charity, that cares for a 2,000-mile network of stunning canals and navigable rivers, their role in protecting and revitalising the nation’s canals never stops because without ongoing maintenance and rejuvenation our ageing canal network simply wouldn’t be here.

They are looking to recruit a team of volunteers to support their marketing efforts within the local community in Reading. This role will help reach out to and build support from those who have yet to discover the charity’s network.

Tasks include: Designing and distributing leaflets, flyers and posters, Support with the installation of campaign banners, Supporting the region with events and materials, and more! Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and comfortable performing this role.
