A WILDLIFE tour exploring nocturnal ecology and bat activity along local green spaces is taking place near Reading next week.
The Guided Bat Walk, as hosted by Charlotte Alchin from the Bat Conservation Trust, will feature a group outdoor walk through Englefield Estate.
The family-friendly event introduces participants to native bat species, their hunting habits, and their natural habitats across the area.
Group leaders equip attendees with handheld ultrasonic bat detectors, which convert the high-frequency echolocation calls of hunting bats into audible sounds to assist in tracking and identifying different species in real time.
There are also demonstrations on how to listen out for and identify a number of species and their habitats.
Participants are advised to bring warm layers, comfortable walking shoes, and a torch for navigation.
Guided Bat Walk will take place in Five A Day Garden, The Street, Englefield, on Friday, 11 September.
