Sight loss can take away independence and confidence, and leave those affected isolated. Berkshire Vision supports hundreds of blind and partially sighted children and adults, helping them to live their lives to the full.

They are seeking volunteers to assist their visually impaired Members to access the continually developing sport and activities programme they offer, including Tandem Cycling, Rock Climbing, Golf, Running, Dragon boating, Swimming, Tennis. Their Members also love to socialise whether in the pub, the theatre or at special events. Volunteers will attend, support and guide Members and join in the fun.

The time commitment varies and is very flexible as they have sports and activities happening all the time. No prior experience is required as you will be given training before starting the role. Volunteers must be 18+, diligent and friendly.

Ridgeline Trust helps people with a variety of health conditions and disabilities to access the benefits of horticultural therapy in their beautiful, accessible garden in East Reading.

They are seeking volunteers who can support individual clients or small groups to carry out gardening activities under the guidance of the Horticultural Therapists. Aspects of the role include enabling and encouraging clients to carry out the gardening activity and assisting the Horticultural Therapist to prepare the garden before clients arrive e.g. getting tools out and/or tidying up at the end of the session.

This role would suit someone who has excellent listening and communicating skills and empathy with people with learning, physical and mental health disabilities. The role requires a regular commitment of a few hours a week.
