UP TO four people can enjoy unlimited travel on Reading Buses network for just £5.50 this Easter weekend.

The daily deal covers the SimplyReading area, and is on offer from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

The company will also be adopting a special service on Good Friday, based on demand last year. It is essentially a Saturday service, but with some additional services.

On Saturday, there will be a regular Saturday timetable in place. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the firm will run to a Sunday timetable.

However, if a bus route does not operate on public holidays, it will not run on Good Friday or Easter Monday.

Robert Williams, Reading Buses’ chief executive officer, said: “We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people travelling last year on Good Friday – especially during the day.

“For this reason, we have decided to increase our service this year on most routes – with a special service running based upon each routes’ Saturday service, meaning more buses for everyone, especially during the day.

“Over the rest of the Easter weekend buses will run to their normal Saturday and Sunday services with buses then running to a Sunday service on Easter Monday.”

It was hoped this would ensure the town keeps moving during the early spring holiday.

“This level of service will be more than enough to match the normal level of demand seen over the Easter period,” Mr Williams said.

And on the group ticket, offering discounted travel for up to four people, he said: “The Reading All-Bus group ticket will be on its reduced price of just £5.50 each day during the Easter Weekend.

“This means up to four people – any combination of adults and children – can travel together all day for just £5.50. This ticket is funded by Reading Borough Council and the Bus Service Improvement Partnership money from Central Government.”

Full details, including details Good Friday timetables for each route, can be found on the Reading Buses website reading-buses.co.uk
