Reading FC signed experienced shot stopper David Button

READING FC has announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper David Button.

He becomes the latest in a series of summer signings since Ruben Selles took charge of the club.

The 34-year-old joins the club with a wealth of experience under his belt having played a total of 363 games throughout his career so far.

He joins from West Bromwich Albion where he spent three seasons with the Baggies, two of which in the Championship and one in the Premier League.

He made one top flight appearance with West Brom before he played 10 times in the 2021/22 season and 13 times last campaign in the Championship.

Button started his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur and was sent out on numerous loan spells to aid his development including stints with Grays Athletic, Rochdale, AFC Bournemouth, Luton Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Crewe Alexandra, Shrewsbury Town, Plymouth Argyle, Letton Oritne, Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley.

After an astonishing amount of loan spells, he joined Charlton Athletic on a permanent basis in 2012 before moving to Brentford the next season.

Button spent three seasons with Brentford and helped them to win promotion from League One in 2013/14 where he played 42 league games.

He played a total of 141 games for Brentford before he moved across London to join Fulham in 2016.

Button played 61 games in two seasons in the Championship with Fulham before he left to join West Brom.
