MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly interested in bringing Reading FC teen star Luca Fletcher to the club this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are attempting to fight off competition from other top flight teams for the signature of the young talent.

The 16-year-old has put himself on the radar of several major clubs after impressing for Reading’s youth teams and England U16s.

Fletcher managed to score more than 20 goals throughout last season and is expected to join City for around £1million this summer.

West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion have both also been rumoured to have been interested in signing Fletcher, but it now appears that the Manchester club will beat them to the deal.

Reading have had numerous exceptional talents graduate for their academy in recent memory and Fletcher looks to be the next in line to break through onto the world stage.

Recent successful Reading academy graduates include Michael Olise who starred for the Royals before he made the move to Premier League Crystal Palace after they activated his £8million release clause in July 2021.

Olise’s allusive style of play and creativity has won him a number of suitors around Europe where he is subject to be of transfer interest this summer with Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal reportedly interested in his signature.

The Royals are currently planning for life in League One after being relegated to England’s third tier with a 22nd placed finish in the Championship in the 2022/23 campaign.

Reading are on the lookout to appoint a new manager in the coming weeks after Noel Hunt ended the season in interim charge, taking the place of Paul Ince who was sacked with five games to go.
