Reading FC owner Rob Couhig admitted that he has sometimes made ‘mistakes’ in his enthusiasm since taking over the club.

The Royals have now been owned by Redwood Holdings for more than 40 days with Couhig and Todd Trosclair pledging to make several changes to the club and how it operates.

Reading are able to operate without EFL restrictions in the transfer window this summer and have so far signed two players, Paudie O’Connor and Jack Stevens.

However, Couhig admitted that more players had been lined up, but one example chose at the last minute not to sign for Reading.

Speaking on the Rich and Rob podcast, Couhig said: “If I make a mistake sometimes in my enthusiasm, I sometimes get ahead of my ability to perform in the instant.

“I talked about us getting ready to sign some players and at the last moment he decided not to go and went to Europe.

“There are no leaks from our organisation, nobody’s going around saying ‘hey I’ve heard this or that’. Because anybody who leaks gets fired. Pretty black and white deal for us and we had to do it because of the way the club operated before.”
