Reading FC manager Ruben Selles has delivered a message to the fans following the breakdown of the club’s most recent takeover negociations.
There is frustration among Reading fans, staff and management after Rob Couhig’s proposed deal to buy the club from Dai Yongge fell through.
Regarding possible protests, Selles said: “We know there is a sanction of a points deduction suspended if a game is abandoned. We have enough with what we have with the situation for players and technical staff. If I can ask for something it will be to not be disruptive to this group of players, that’s what I can ask for.
“For forms of protest, I respect their voice and respect what they do. Right now I will ask that we don’t get hit by point deductions or anything.
“I will tell them (the fans) to support the players and be on their side every single moment. We know it’s going to be a difficult season again.
“Evaluating everything, we’ve had a good start to the season and know there will be ups and downs and we are going to fight. We have our clear targets and everybody needs to know the target is to get 50 points as quickly as possible.
“We will have good moments, bad moments, I expect them not to support myself but to support the players in every single moment.
“We are not able to get any support for the technical staff or players. We need to have a way to do things. Sometimes we are overpressing some of the players that are not ready yet – we are playing a boy that is 16.
“He’s a good player, a good prospect but we are accelerating his football development and also his mindset development to be able to cope with this situation.
“He’s not the only one. We know we are overdoing some things in order to be competitive. We know we need support.”
