Reading FC chairman Rob Couhig has sent a message to supporters to inform them of an extension to the frozen prices of season tickets.

Season tickets are currently on sale and the club have take the decision to extend the frozen prices until the renewal date of 20th June.

Addressing the fans, Couhig said in an open letter: “Dear Royals. Since the sale of the Club was announced, we have been overwhelmed with your offers of support and friendship. This has been especially true of our Season Ticket holders.

“Following the launch of the frozen price sale, we have seen thousands of people renewing, returning, and even many who like us will become new Season Ticket holders.

“Already, in just two weeks of sale, we are close to having sold more than the entirety of last season. My thanks goes to all who have made this early commitment to Reading Football Club.

“On Friday, our price freeze is set to end. Last year, our prices were approximately the 17th most expensive in the division.

“With the movement we have seen from other clubs, it’s reasonable to believe the current prices and the likely increased prices will again be among the most competitive in the league.

“And yet, the club’s day to day costs (like your own!) have increased. If we are to compete at the highest level, both as a matter of financial sustainability and to comply with League regulation, it’s important we make the right decisions to generate greater revenues for the business.

“Todd and I have been working with club staff to try and solve this conundrum and maintain absolute value for money for our fans.

“For now, we have decided to extend the price freeze, up until the renewal deadline of 20th June. During those two weeks, we will publish the new prices, highlight some of the added value Season Tickets holders will receive, make some announcements that will be sure to excite our fans, and probably come up with a prize or two for those who missed the cutoff to be included in the Bearwood party and the draws for opening day.

“Please know that your loyalty to this Club is truly appreciated and we are committed to giving value in return.

“Up the Ding! Rob.”
