The Bastille Day Festival has been bringing a taste of France to the people of Reading for 12 years.
The festival, back again this year in the Forbury Gardens on July 13 and 14, offers stalls with French cuisine as well traditional performances of music and dancing and has been nominated for the Community Event of the Year award.
“I have had the pleasure of attending this event multiple times over the years since ‘the three frogs’ launched it,” said a nominator.
“I have also had the pleasure to meet and get to know (two of the organisers) Vince Valère and Boubacar Dembele over the years and I know that they work tirelessly for the whole year to make the event the success it is,” they added.
“Bastille Day has gone from strength to strength, is widely supported and is now something that I plan to attend each year. Keep up the good work lads, you’re doing yourselves proud.”
The recipient of the award, sponsored by Kingdom Rooms, suppliers of insulated garden rooms and offices, will work tirelessly to ensure the quality of this event or programme has left a lasting mark on our community.
The event has also been nominated for the Business in Action under 50 employees award, sponsored by Boyes Turner.
“Vincent works tirelessly to organise the Bastille Day Festival for Reading,” said a nominator. “He spends all year planning and contacting businesses in the UK and France.
“This event is wonderful for the French community and the UK community. It’s a fantastic multicultural experience.”
