Putting Reading on the Map, The Wilkins family, sponsor Jacobs the Jewellers and The Purple Turtle

This year is the 50th anniversary of the ground-breaking TV show ‘The Family’ starring the Wilkins family from Reading.

“It is considered to be the first reality TV show,” said its nominator for the Putting Reading on the Map award.

“Many more have followed since. At the time the show had massive ratings and certainly put Reading on the map. It is still fondly remembered.”

Putting Reading on the Map is sponsored by Jacobs the Jewellers and The Purple Turtle
