Police are appealing for help to reunite a dog found wandering in Reading with its owner.

The dog was discovered near Island Road in Whitley and was handed to Thames Valley Police at about 10pm on Sunday.

Officers are now asking anyone who recognises the dog or knows who it belongs to to come forward.

The owner is asked to contact Thames Valley Police by calling 101 or attend Reading Police Station to arrange collection.

Police said proof of ownership will be required before the dog is released.

Anyone with information that could help identify the owner is urged to contact officers.
