THE FORMER headquarters to phone company Three could become an apart-hotel if a new planning application is approved by Reading Borough Council.

The telecoms firm moved to Green Park from Great Brighams Mead, off Vastern Road, leaving the site empty.

Building owners Kings Oak Miami LLP previously applied for permission to build 72 apartments by adding additional storeys to the site, but this was rejected by the council’s planning department.

A fresh application has been submitted, which would add two storeys to the site, and create 100 rooms for an apart-hotel.

The company already has permission to convert the existing buildings into 110 apartments.

If this new application is given the go-ahead, it means the site would be a mixture of permanent and temporary accommodation.
