READING Borough Council is one of 136 local authorities that saw seats up for re-election across England yesterday (Thursday, May 7).

Seventeen seats were up for re-election here in the town, representing over one-third of the make-up of the council as it stands.

Overall, there are now three fewer Labour councillors, all in wards picked up by The Green Party, while The Conservatives gained a seat held by Reform.

The Liberal Democrats held on to all three of their seats up for re-election.
