An Indian outdoor food festival is coming to Reading for the first time.
A group called the Goan Reading Boys are set to put on their first outdoor festival at Kings Meadow in a few weeks.
The Goan Reading Boys are a group of friends who organise cultural events in Berkshire.
Their website states: “Founded with a passion to keep our rich heritage alive, we are a collective dedicated to bringing the authentic sights, sounds, and flavours of Goa to the UK.
“Whether it’s the rhythm of a live brass band, the aroma of traditional cuisine, or the warmth of community spirit, our events are meticulously crafted to make you feel right at home.”
In a promotional video for the outdoor festival, one of the members said: “For the past 11 years, we’ve been working hard to do indoor music events, but now, for the first time ever, we’re taking it outdoors.”
A fellow member said: “With your amazing support, and by God’s grace, we’re bringing you something special.
“We’re bringing all the trending bands from Goa, so be prepared for an exciting day of fun, food and music.”
The Goan Reading Boys have applied to host music and dance and sell alcohol in a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.
The event is due to take place on Saturday, August 8.
Music, dance and alcohol sales would begin at 12.30pm, with music and dance ending at 10pm and alcohol sales at 9pm.
