Reading FC protest group Sell Before We Dai have described Dai Yongge and Dayong Pang’s statement stating their willingness to sell Bearwood Park training ground as ‘inappropriate and unprofessional’.
With the potential sale of the club still only making small progress despite the Royals being on the verge of a crisis, the owner communicated that he is ‘exploring’ all options, which includes selling the training ground separate to the rest of the club if there is an appropriate offer.
A statement from SBWD reads: “This is a bizarre statement for a number of reasons.
“Firstly, you can tell by the way it is written that this is from Pang and Yongge, not the club.
“Secondly, it is an entirely inappropriate and unprofessional use of the club’s communication channels.
“Issuing a come and get me plea for the training ground whilst trying to sell the Club itself is plainly ridiculous.
“Thirdly, it sends a very confusing message to potential investors. Is the training ground now not involved in the sale?
“Previously Yongge and co had said they wanted to sell everything together. This sort of incoherent nonsense is another example of the unsettling chaos fans, players and staff have had to endure under Yongge and Pang.
“We know fans are confused and worried. So are we. However, now is the time for complete solidarity. We need to back the players 100% for the remaining 9 games as we fight to retain our League One status.
“The most important point for us is that it shows how desperate the financial situation has become. We need money in the club more than ever and that’s what we’ll be working on.”
Both SBWD and the Supporters Trust at Reading have confirmed that they will be sharing more details on fundraising efforts tomorrow (Monday).
