Westwood Wanderers took a huge step to securing the Thames Valley Premier League title with a come-from-behind 4-1 win over Maidenhead Town on Monday night.

Buoyed by a healthy crowd at The Atrium, the Tilehurst-based leaders scored four goals in the second half to maintain a 12-point cushion at the top.

Westwood have four games remaining, while Maidenhead Town have six.

Burghfield are fourth after a 1-4 victory at Slough Heating Laurencians, while Finchampstead in sixth won 4-3 on Monday night against Reading YMCA. They have six games remaining and will be eyeing a top-three finish.

In the Combined Counties Premier League North, Wokingham Town’s 2-1 defeat on Saturday at Edgware and Kingsbury all but ended Berks County’s faint hopes of finishing outside the relegation zone.

The Sumas finished their season on Tuesday night with another disappointing second half display, this time losing 4-2 at bottom club Wembley after leading 2-0 during the first half.

With two games left, the first on Saturday at Chalfont St Peter before the final match of their season at Windsor on Tuesday night, a win from either match will extend their season.

Woodley United remain rooted to the bottom of the table with three games remaining, and only maximum points from those matches will see them secure safety.

In the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier, Reading FC Community Trust ended their season with a 2-0 defeat at Porchester.

Woodley United, also competing in their last match, went down 1-5 against champions Ascot United.

In Division One North, Tilehurst Panthers suffered a 0-1 defeat at home to Penn & Tylers Green.

Caversham United, bottom of the table, have their final match of the season on Sunday at champions Beaconsfield Town.
