READING FC WOMEN’s manager Kelly Chambers believes her team have a new found confidence after netting six goals in their last two matches.

The Royals played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool in the Women’s Super League before they hit three past Championship side Southampton without reply in the Conti Cup.

Chambers has been pleased with the attacking progress her team has showed.

“It was the end of a tough week and it was nice to score some goals, get a clean sheet and a win,” said Chambers.

“It was a progressive week and it’s definitely given the girls a morale boost.

“We want to keep progressing. We want to be able to create more chances. You can see that progressing and we changed some things so we can create more and you saw that last week.

“We’ve adapted our shape a bit and that’s helped us to get more bodies around the ball. We were playing people out of position just to fit the shape and when we analysed it over the last international period we’ve got more to give as a group.

“I wanted to be able to show that. We’ve conceded weak goals, and the players will be the first to put their hands up to that, we need to score goals as well.

“We’ve got the attacking prowess to do that and we’ve seen the confidence grow and we need to keep taking that into every game.”

Reading’s next test comes on Sunday when they host Tottenham in the WSL.

The teams have already met once this season, in the Conti Cup which saw Spurs take a 2-1 win.

Chambers continued: “Defensively they are very organised so we know it will be difficult to break them down and they have threats going forward.

“We’ve analysed what we need to be better at and hopefully we can pull everything together going into the Tottenham game.

“When we played them before, we were in a different place as a squad. Right now, we’re in a better place than when we played them the first time.

“There are no new injuries to report. Brooke Hendrix is back in the squad for this week so it’s pretty much a full house which is nice.

“We all know what Emma (Harries) can bring us. She had a big injury and after the Arsenal game she picked up a little niggle which took a bit of time to settle but she’s now ready to go and we’ve been building up her minutes.”
