A VENUE in Reading is welcoming back one of the town’s most enigmatic, rising bands later this week.
The Borough are back with a new set–and new sunglasses–for a live show as part of Please Ban Music on Thursday.
The four-piece marries grizzly guitars and an ever-so-slightly-antagonistic air with eminently catchy melodies and crisp composition.
They have been working their way through the ranks of the music scene here in Reading, including an infectiously insouciant set which was among the highlights of this year’s Are You Listening? Festival back in May.
They’ll be joined by Double Yellow Lines, whose mix of Balkan jazz, doom rock, psychedelia, and mariachi will continue to develop as they present music from their debut EP, Is There Anything Further.
Rounding out the line-up is London and Reading-based power-pop purveyors Mr Speed–having formed from previous outfit Gag Salon–also with some brand new music.
There will also be DJ sets from Barry Manalog and Luther Andross throughout the night.
The Borough (Live!) starts at 7.45pm on Thursday, October 8.
Tickets available on the door.
