A NEW pet store has opened in Reading, and its management team includes a dog.

Rolo is the four-legged friend of Emily Palethorpe, with whom he co-manages the branch of Jollyes that launched on Friday, November 24.

Based in Reading Gateway retail park, there was a weekend of fun to celebrate its launch.

On the opening day, there was a Christmas theme with Christmas tree balloon columns, real reindeers and a gingerbread character.

On Saturday, a balloon artist visited, and there were visits on both days by the story’s mascot, Jollyes Joe.

The first 100 shoppers received a goody bag, and everyone was given the chance to win a prize by spinning a Wheel of Fur-tune.

Twelve jobs have been created at the branch which includes a frozen raw food shop-in shop, a Jolly Groomer salon and a Community Pet Clinic. This includes the opportunities to get vaccinations for dogs, cats and rabbits. It also offers microchipping.

Regional manager Matt Godwin said: “We know how much pet parents right across Reading love their animals, so we’re pleased to bring the kind of value and service we’re famous for, to town.”
