A FESTIVAL celebrating plant-based food is returning to Reading this weekend.

Reading Vegan Festival is back in town for its seventh annual outing on Saturday, September 21.

It will host stalls from 45 vendors, including street food and cakes alongside ethically-produced products, eco-friendly gifts, and charities.

It will also see a programme of talks and workshops from campaigners, nutritionists, pet experts, and comedians, as well as a dedicated zone for children.

All of the businesses featured are fully vegan with an ethical focus, following in the festival’s mission of supporting vegan businesses and promoting causes for animals, for the environment, and for human health.

Sarah Zeneli, from Reading Vegan Festival, says: “Reading Vegan Festival is a fantastic event to raise awareness in the community about veganism and to showcase it as the fun, friendly and cruelty-free lifestyle that it is.

“We are so grateful that the festival has become a key event in many people’s calendars, with incredible local support and many travelling in from different towns too.

“We are also very excited to be working with The Market House who will be turning completely vegan for the event again.”

The festival was founded in 2017 by Pride of Reading nominees Sparkle Vegan Events, who also run the Vegan Fiesta in Forbury Gardens each year.

Reading Vegan Festival takes place in The Market House, Market Place, and on Broad Street from 11am-4pm on Saturday, September 21.

Entry is free.
