FREE burgers are on the menu for a Reading restaurant tomorrow – and for one lucky person, there will be more on the side than just chips.

Honest Burgers is giving away 100 smashed burgers and fries from 11.30am on Tuesday, September 26, while stocks last. The meal is one of its most popular menu items, and is a burger that is smashed burger is literally smashed into the grill, maximising surface area and creating a sear, locking juices in.

And one lucky customer will also win a ‘Golden Shares’ prize – £5,000 worth of shares, making them an immediate co-owner of the brand. Details of how to enter will be available on arrival at the High Street restaurant.

The freebie is to celebrate the launch of its new crowdfunding campaign, as it seeks to expand into the quick-service burger market.

Honest Burgers say customer investment will help fuel the launch of a brand-new quick-service style restaurant due to open next year, which will serve a range of smashed burgers, rosemary salted chips, and new sides and milkshakes.

The firm believes it can challenge bigger brands in a set-up built for speed, convenience and exceptional value for money.

Tom Barton, co-founder of Honest Burgers, said: “We started in a marquee, in a muddy field, mostly in the rain.

“It’s fair to say, we never dreamed we’d get to where we are today. One thing for sure is we wouldn’t have got here without our loyal customers.

“So, we wanted to give them the opportunity to become co-owners of the brand as we set up for the next chapter in our story.

“And nothing says thank you better than a free burger.

“We’ve been totally overwhelmed with the response to our crowdfunding campaign and we’re super excited that our customers can join us for the next stage of our adventure.”

Shareholders will receive perks and rewards dependent on the level of investment. They include free burgers and chips, ongoing discounts with an Honest Equity green card, limited edition Honest Burgers merchandise, and the opportunity to host a free burger party at one of the restaurants.
