Reading’s James Paterson, a decorated memory champion and teacher at Queen Anne’s School, is set to feature in You Bet on Tour! tomorrow night.
The show, which will be aired on ITV and ITVX, was filmed at high-octane theme park Thorpe Park in Surrey.
James, who was UK No.1 and ranked in the top 16 globally, faces a mind-bending test: correctly matching couples to their rollercoaster picture numbers, numbered 0–999.
Accuracy and focus are key as he tries to master a challenge that would test even the world’s best.
Cheering him on alongside host Stephen Mulhern are this week’s celebrity panellists Holly Willoughby, Rylan Clarke and Babatunde Aleshe.
James said: “I’ve competed in memory championships all over the world, but this was a totally different kind of challenge.
“Matching hundreds of numbers to faces under pressure was tough, yet the most fantastic fun. It was wonderful working with Stephen, Holly, Rylan and Babatunde too!’”
If he gets it all right, James could walk away with £5,000.
