READING ATHLETICS LADIES tackled the mud and rain to make a promising start to their XC season at Aldershot.

The athletes task was made even tougher when the heavens opened as they approached the start line.

With 13 seniors representing Reading, Anna Godfrey opened up her 2023/24 XC campaign with a brilliant showing to take 20th position.

Sue Francis was next to finish and built on her showing at Wormwood Scrubs last weekend and took 25th.

Lizzy Jeffrey was the next Reading representative to finish as she earned 59th in her debut race for the club before Helen Antram followed closely behind in 61st.

The next three finishers for Reading AC finished three in a row with Lucy Daniells in 64th after an excellent sprint finish, Shirley-Ann Dix in 65th and Angel Langlade in 66th.
