A PUBLIC lecture is set to explore the effects of ageing on the brain at the University of Reading next week.
The Ageing Brain: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and What We Can Do, will examine cognitive health, how neurological decline works, and practical strategies for dementia prevention, presented by Dr Samrah Ahmed.
Dr Ahmed examines the biological changes occurring in healthy brain function over time while detailing the early warning signs associated with dementia.
Dr Samrah Ahmed is a clinical neuroscientist at the University of Reading, where she leads the Brain Health and Dementia Lab.
She trained at Cambridge, Oxford and St George’s, London, and now focuses on helping diagnose and understand conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, including in younger people.
The lecture looks at the research and data on how lifestyle habits and medical interventions influence individual risk factors, exploring prevention strategies and current understanding of how our brains change as we age.
The session will be delivered in person on campus and live-streamed on the university’s YouTube channel.
Admission to the public talk is free, though advance registration is required for both in-person and digital attendance.
The Ageing Brain: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and What We Can Do will take place at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus and online on Thursday, October 22 at 7pm.
