The council has approved a plan to convert an empty Whitley Street shop into a beauty salon.
The shop previously served as the Loans2go pay day lender, which occupied the unit from 2014, but has since closed.
Appraising the plan, a Reading Borough Council officer felt the conversion would be beneficial as it ‘complements existing commercial uses’ in the street and would revitalise a unit that has not been active for several years.
