Reading FC have paid their tributes following the death of former first-team manager Charlie Hurley.
Hurley, who was born in 1936, passed away aged 87 earlier this week.
Following a playing career that saw him make more than 550 league appearances for Millwall, Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers, Hurley became Reading manager in 1972.
He led the Biscuitmen to a fourth tier promotion in the 1975/76 season before he departed the club in February 1977.
Hurley is also credited with bringing Reading legend Robin Friday to the club in 1974.
A statement from Reading Football Club reads: “Everyone at Reading Football Club are saddened to learn of the passing of former Reading Manager, Charlie Hurley, at the age of 87.
“A man who created memories and left a lasting impression on many in the local area, our sincere condolences go out to all of Charlie’s family and friends.”
