Former Reading FC manager Mark Bowen has been appointed as the boss of AFC Wimbledon.
Since leaving his role with Reading in August 2020, Bowen has been out of work, but will now take over at the League One side for the remainder of their season.
The Dons are currently in the midst of a relegation battle where they sit in 21st place in League One.
With just seven games remaining in the season, they sit precariously just one point above the drop zone having lost all of their last five matches.
The Welshman first joined Reading in March 2019 in the role as Technical Consultant, but was controversially appointed as the first-team boss after Jose Gomes was sacked in October 2019 having been selected by the clubs owner Mr Dai Yongge as the best replacement.
Bowen started his tenure as Royals boss strongly and was offered a contract extension in January 2020 to last until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
Taking over from Gomes as manager with the club in 23rd in the Championship, Bowen guided the Royals to a 14th placed finish in what turned out to be his only season in charge.
However, just weeks prior to the 2020/21 campaign, the Reading hierarchy opted for a rather unexpected change which saw Veljko Paunovic appointed as the new manager.
Meanwhile, Bowen was offered a new role as Sporting Director with Reading, but he chose to decline the offer after stating that he wanted to pursue a career as a manager.
