An informal poetry competition is returning once again to a venue in Reading this week.
Dreading Poetry Slam is back again bringing poetry to The Rising Sun Arts Centre.
As well as open mic performances, the event gives attendees the chance to pit their poetry against others in a friendly slam-style competition.
The winner earns their place in the Grand Slam in 2027–the winner of which also gets the chance to compete in the UK National Poetry Slam.
There is also a lively quick-fire, themed round of short poems this is up to 5 lines long, won by the loudest cheer.
Dreading Poetry Slam returns to the Rising Sun Arts Centre on Sunday, July 5, and again on the first Sunday of each month.
Entry is free, doors open from 7.15pm.
