The full list of candidates for the Reading Borough Council elections this year has been published.

The election will take place on Thursday, May 7.

If you are voting in person, you will need a physical ID. You can also vote by post.

Reading Borough Council has been under Labour Party control since 2010.

The vote is being held across all 16 wards, with an extra vacancy in Caversham Heights.

There are currently 31 Labour councillors, eight Green Party councillors, three Conservatives, three Liberal Democrats, councillor Clarence Mitchell (Reform UK, Emmer Green) and cllr Sarah Hacker (Independent, Battle), who is not contesting the election.

Even if there is little political change, there is a guarantee of at least four new faces, as Labour councillors Jo Lovelock, Deborah Edwards and Sam Juthani have stood down as well.

This means new councillors are guaranteed in the Battle, Norcot, Southcote and Caversham Heights wards.
