Reading FC Community Trust have set up fundraising to try and save two of the club’s youth sides.
Due to financial issues, the club’s current owner Dai Yongge took the decision to withdraw the Women’s first-team from the Championship which means they have dropped down to the fifth tier of the football pyramid.
Also, the lack of funding means that the means that the girls’ academy teams will no longer run.
The Community Trust, which is a charity, currently takes care of the early ages academy.
However, to try and protect more girls’ football teams, they have set up fundraising which would allow them to take care of the under 14s and under 16s sides.
On the GoFundMe page, they said: “”Despite the difficult situation facing our Women’s team, our women’s academy pathway U14 and U16 teams can continue to thrive under the Community Trust with your help.
