Reading FC manager Paul Ince has confirmed that the club are on the brink of signing Naby Sarr and Mamadou Loum.
Sarr it set to join on a free transfer after leaving Huddersfield Town in the summer, while Loum will join on loan from FC Porto.
6’6 defender Sarr has been training with Reading ahead of a move which is expected to be confirmed within the coming days.
“Naby (Sarr) has been here training all week.
“Everything we do has to go through the EFL so these things take time.
“They have to sanction deals for players.”
The Royals boss is also hoping that Loum will be added to his squad later this week.
He continued: “Hopefully Mamadou Loum will be in tomorrow, fingers crossed.
“We’re excited about that. When you look at our team we need some strength in there.
“The Championship is so demanding with 46 games and we need some power so to get Loum it will be nice and Naby which should be done by next week hopefully.”
Loum made a switch to FC Porto in 2019 after impressing for Braga B early in his career, as well as a loan spell at Moreirense.
After making just 11 league appearances for Porto in 2019, Loum was loaned out to Spanish side Alaves for the 2021/22 season where he played 24 league games and scored two goals.
The 6’2 midfielder also has three international caps for Senegal having made his debut for his country in 2019.
Sarr, who has also played for Lyon, Sporting Lisbon and Charlton Athletic, helped Huddersfield to reach the play-offs final last season before they lost out to Nottingham Forest.
Sarr played 41 times and scored four goals in his first season for the Terriers in 2020/21 and last campaign he made 18 Championship appearances and scored three goals.
His final appearance for Huddersfield came at Wembley in the play-off final where he started the match and completed 57 minutes as the Terriers narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
