FRIED Chicken restaurant Popeyes has announced it is throwing open its doors at a second branch in Reading next week.

On Friday, August 8, the new restaurant at Reading Gateway retail park is set to open with a launch day extravaganza.

On opening day, the first 50 customers in the queue will be treated to exclusive Popeyes UK merchandise and the first 100 will bag a free Chicken Sandwich.

The first three customers will win the ultimate prize of free Chicken Sandwiches for a year.

The restaurant brings 52 new jobs to the local area, and will include 62 seats, self-service kiosks, and collection points for orders made online.

The new Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich will also be available from opening day, following demand from fans for its return to the menu.

It marks a sweet and spicy twist on the Popeyes classic, drizzled with Hot Honey sauce, topped with cheddar cheese and pickles, and served in a brioche bun.

The sandwich is joined by the return of the bigger-than-ever Hot Honey range, featuring the new Hot Honey Saucin’ Boneless, the comeback of Hot Honey Saucin’ Wings, and the Hot Honey Box Meal.

The Breakfast menu will also be available from 8am until 10am daily, and will include a Breakfast meal deal for just £1.99, consisting of a bacon roll, a Cajun hash brown, and a drink, which can be claimed exclusively through the Popeyes app.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes® UK CEO, said: “We can’t wait to open our second Popeyes location in Reading next week.

“After the successful launch of our Broad Street restaurant, we are continuing our growth in the region with the opening of our newest restaurant at Reading Gateway – bringing even more people a taste of New Orleans.”
