With the Easter Bank Holiday upon us, there’s plenty happening in and around Reading to keep all ages entertained this weekend. From family trails to music festivals and classic spring walks, here are five great ideas to make the most of the long weekend:

1. Go on the Reading Easter Trail

The popular free Easter Trail returns to Reading town centre, inviting families to spot hidden bunnies in shop windows from now until 12 April. Pick up a free trail map from Reading Museum, Broad Street Mall customer services or download one online, then explore the town while little ones hunt for all the floppy‑eared characters.

2. Enjoy live music at The Village Easter Festival

The Village Easter Festival runs from Thursday to Monday across venues in the town, with free live music and entertainment each day. Blues, jazz, folk and more will feature at spots like The Retreat and The Lyndhurst, making this a great option for adults and families alike.

3. Plan a day out at Wellington Country Park

Just a short drive from Reading, Wellington Country Park offers spacious outdoor fun with farm animals, play areas and wide trails, perfect for an active Easter Sunday outing. Special seasonal activities often run over Easter, so it’s worth checking their schedule before you visit.

4. Visit The Museum of English Rural Life for spring exhibitions and family fun

The museum’s gardens and interactive exhibitions make it a relaxed option for families wanting a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. It’s open throughout the bank holiday weekend and often runs Easter‑themed activities for children of all ages.

5. Take a stroll or picnic in Prospect Park

If the spring weather holds, Prospect Park is ideal for a scenic walk, picnic, or casual bike ride. Its open spaces and play areas mean it’s a favourite with families, and a great way to enjoy the season’s warmer days.
