A PAINT company is seeking nominations as part of an initiative aimed at providing a makeover to community projects.

The Let’s Colour Colour of the Year Initiative a nationwide campaign from Dulux that calls on local heroes to nominate their community spaces for a makeover using the Dulux Colours of the Year 2026.

The initiative is offering winners an exclusive colour consultation and the Dulux paints needed to spruce up community spaces.

This year saw the selection of a trio of shades of blue, known as the Rhythm of Blues, as the colours of the year.

The trio includes ‘Slow Swing’, a deep blue which verges on grey; ‘Free Groove’, which is closer to a navy blue; and ‘Mellow Flow’, which is close to teal.

Dulux says that the shades inspire reflection, inspire movement, and create nurturing environments, respectively.

Each of the shades represents three different projects: the Slow Swing Project, for healthcare centres, charitable enterprises, or libraries; the Free Groove Project, for sports halls, football clubs, or outdoor areas; and the Mellow Flow Project;,for community centres or multi-purpose venues.

Dulux has once again enlisted the help of VIY (Volunteer it Yourself), an organisation that works with 14–24-year-olds to complete volunteer DIY projects whilst helping them learn vocational trade skills.

Over the course of their four-year partnership, Dulux and VIY have transformed over 200 community spaces together through Dulux’s wider Let’s Colour initiative, positively impacting 120,000+ lives across the UK.

Nominations for spaces are open now, submit your project and explain why it deserves a Colour of the Year makeover.

Winners will receive a full paint transformation using Rhythm of Blues colours and palettes, alongside support from the Let’s Colour team and partners.

Becky Orton, Marketing Manager at Dulux, said: “Colour has an incredible ability to lift our mood and bring people together.

“With Rhythm of Blues, we want to celebrate the different paces of everyday life and help give communities the chance to reflect that in the spaces they use and love.

“This Let’s Colour initiative brought to life through our Colour of the Year 2026 palettes, is about more than just paint–it’s about pride, possibility and creating places that feel truly in tune with the people who use them.”
