A chain responsible for running cafes at some of the biggest destinations in London is gearing up to come to Reading.
Benugo is a collection of cafes and restaurants serving coffee and delicious food in some of the UK’s most amazing spaces.
The company runs a restaurant at the British Museum, cafes at the Natural History Museum and St Paul’s Cathedral, and various other locations across London.
Now Benugo is set to open at the John Lewis department store in Broad Street, Reading.
The company will take over The Place to Eat at John Lewis, with no changes to the Ori Cafe, which is located elsewhere in the store.
Benugo will be open during the regular trading hours which is 10am to 5.30pm on weekdays, to close at 6.30pm on Saturdays and 11am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
Ahead of opening, Benugo has submitted a licensing application to sell alcohol to Reading Borough Council.
The application would allow the provision of alcohol from 8am to 11pm each day.
A John Lewis spokesperson clarified that these extended hours provide the option of staying open later for customer events, which is already permitted under the existing licence.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live.
You can respond to it by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses closes on Wednesday, April 29.
Benugo is headquartered at Thames Valley Park in Earley.
The company already runs eateries at 10 John Lewis stores, and recently made a deal with the department store giant to transform 32 in-store restaurants.
